Photography Locations in Knoxville, TN

Whether you are deciding on a location for engagement photos or a for a family session, below you will find the best locations in Knoxville!

Greenery

  1. UT Gardens. Located near downtown Knoxville, the UT Gardens has a dynamic range of garden areas and walkways, making it an ideal location for engagement photos or family photos. It is open to the public seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset.

  2. Ijams Nature Center and Meads Quarry. This location has a variety of paved and unpaved trails that take you along the waterfront or into the woods. Trails from Ijams also lead you across the street to Meads Quarry where you can take a dirt trail into the woods and see remnants of an old quarry operation. As of February 2024, the Ijams Nature center has implemented a $5 daily parking fee per car.

  3. Lakeshore Park. This location has well landscaped fields and paved walkways, including two separate overlooks within the park. The main overlook has a stone patio and stone wall area, which gives great texture and a nice accent against the park greenery for photos.

  4. Sequoyah Hills Park. A West Knoxville favorite for walking and bike riding, this park consists of open fields along the river with large trees speckled throughout.

  5. High Ground Park (Hidden Gem!). A hidden gem of Knoxville, in my opinion, because I only saw two other people when I visited this park for the first time! The park consists of a main paved walkway lined by a low stone wall and a wooden fence that takes you to an open area with a grassy field and a circular patio under a large tree. There is also a short dirt trail into the woods, so you can get the best of both worlds (trail types) here!

Cityscapes

  1. Downtown Knoxville. You can get city shots galore in Downtown Knoxville, which makes it a great option for couples photos or even graduation photos. There are so many neat buildings on any given block that will make for a stunning backdrop.

  2. World’s Fair Park. An icon of Knoxville where the Sunsphere is located and the place to go for any graduation photos. Need I say more?

  3. Volunteer Landing. Located in downtown Knoxville next to the Tennessee River is a well maintained walkway. From here, you can get great photos with the Gay Street bridge in the background. Again, this is another great location for graduation photos!

Adventurous

  1. House Mountain. If you’re up for a hike with a view, House Mountain is a great spot not too far from Knoxville. Follow a short trail up the mountain and through the woods to get to an overlook that is stunning on a clear day. You can get hiking and overlook shots all in one place!

Homey

  1. Your own home! This is always a great option for cute, cozy, indoor photos. Your home is inherently a special place, so why not use it as a location for photos that will be special for you as well!
